Missions & Outreach

Affiliations

We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, a network of nearly 45,000 churches in every state in the US. As Southern Baptists we are an autonomous organization that chooses to partner with other SBC churches to fulfill the Great Commission. We do this by giving and supporting the Cooperative Program, the International Mission Board, and the North American Mission Board.

We Serve the World through...

...The Cooperative Program (CP)

How it works:

CP Missions, simply defined, is 44,696 caring Southern Baptist churches partnering together financially to support missions around the world. We believe CP Missions is one of the most expansive, efficient, and effective means of missions support! CP Missions undergirds the work of 10,571 missionaries in 155 countries.

What it does:

The California Southern Baptist Convention uses funds in our state to work together to support a wide array of ministries and missions including: evangelism, children’s homes, volunteer missions, missions education, new churches, disaster relief, universities and seminaries, collegiate ministries, camps, and much more.

Some specifics about the CP:

  • 5,300 missionaries serve 1,100 people groups (with populations > than 100,000)
  • New churches numbering over 1,578 are planted through the efforts of more than 5,271 North American Missionaries.
  • Southern Baptists saw 908,165 new believers baptized in 2008!
  • Six Southern Baptist seminaries educate an excess of 16,000 pastors, missionaries, and future church leaders each year.
  • What you can do:

  • Pray. Pray regularly for your Southern Baptist missionaries around the globe.
  • Go. Be involved in some sort of missions endeavor. Talk with one of our pastors about the available opportunities. You are God’s missionary right where you live.
  • Give. Out of love for the Lord, give regularly to Him through tithe. (2 Corinthians 8:7)

    ...The International Mission Board (IMB)

    Why does the IMB exist?

To reach the almost 5,000 people groups – 1.6 billion people – who still live with little or no access to the Gospel. That is why the IMB has sent out 5,300 international missionaries – both career and short-term missionaries – that touch over 1,100 different people groups.

What Green Hills does for the IMB through your giving:

Any gifts given through the Lottie Moon offering goes directly to missionaries out on the field. We encourage you to go above and beyond what is designated in the budget, giving so that others may Go and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. The following numbers have been possible because of your giving – each of them with their own story.

  • Overseas baptisms 2009 - 506,013
