                           Our History

Green Hills Baptist Church began as a mission of First Southern Baptist Church of La Mirada in September of 1960.  Worship services were held in a local school, and midweek Bible studies met in the homes of members.  The mission church struggled in its first few years, but soon grew large enough to need a church building of its own.

With the help of First Southern, and the Knoxville Baptist Association in Tennessee, our current sanctuary facilities were completed in September of 1966.  Our inaugural services were held on September 18th, and that same Sunday, the Green Hills Baptist Mission was constituted as Green Hills Baptist Church.

Through the years, our church has been blessed by strong leaders.  Jerry Tillman, Walker Campbell, Ed Peery and presently Bob Gallina; each of them has had their ministry characterized by solid Biblical teaching and a vision for reaching the lost.  That vision is still held today. 42 years later, we remain committed to transforming un-churched people into dedicated followers of Jesus Christ.
